Aug 28, 2025 · What it looks like: Like seborrheic dermatitis, perioral dermatitis causes red, inflamed skin and small pustules around the nose and mouth. My nose itself is also always red and has quite big pores. I had this exact thing for about two years, could not get rid of it for the life of me it was so bad that it travelled from around my nose to my mouth. Recently I’ve read on this forum it could be seborrheic dermatitis so every day for like a week I was using nizoral shampoo with ketoconazole but It is not spots/ acne - more just constant redness/ veiny skin. But it feels like I have to use everyday because if I don’t my skin will keep breaking out. If I keep uncared for for another 2 days it will almost look like a sun burn that’s peeling. Perioral dermatitis is often mistaken for acne, but treating it like acne can make it worse‼️ It usually shows up as small bumps, redness, or irritation around the mouth, nose or chin. I believe this is rosacea, simply because of how it settles on the tip of his nose and slightly "wings out" in little areas across his cheeks next to his nose, in what would be the common "racoon sunburn" area , if you get what I'm saying!
